Campaign Finance.....

I have run in several elections, as well as been behind the scenes a few times at the Clerk's Office. The simple act of supporting your favorite candidate has become a difficult task that needn't be.

A "Candidate Committee" is necessary to accept any contributions, by State Election Law. Also by State Law, every donation over $19.99 must list that donor as well as their occupation and address. This information and more is required to be sent in a timely manner to the SOS offices several times during a Campaign cycle by the Candidates committee.

Limits, necessary reporting information, deadlines.....all are basically more regulatory bureaucratic government. Most were passed as a response to some candidate gaining an unfair advantage with a questionable campaign practice. Most were intended to apply to the upper level campaigns, where crooks are rampant.

There is also something inherently wrong about the tendency for the media (and by osmosis, the people) to consider the most important thing about a Candidate being how much money has he raised. All the Candidates are judged by that.

I fear it is part of what has twisted most aspects of politics in this country, too.

The political plum jobs are so desirable that Candidates spend millions on campaigns for local and regional offices. Politicians are now professionals and do whatever is necessary to remain in office.

Therefore, in the spirit of less government, fewer un-necessary regulations and Citizen Politicians, I do not have a "Committee" at this time.

I will not accept donations at this time.

HOWEVER......

There is nothing stopping YOU from buying a hundred political signs, and handing them out....or making your own hand painted sign and displaying it on your lawn.

There is nothing stopping YOU from renting a hall to have a meeting....or writing a letter to the newspaper.

There is nothing stopping YOU, the voter, from doing whatever you want.

As a libertarian, I encourage you to take responsibility for yourself and support the Candidates of your choice in any way you see fit.

Don't make them do all the work.
