The Drug War.....

The so called "War on Drugs" has been going on for a lot longer than the "War on Terror" and has had even less impressive results. Over 25 years of the same policy and pretty much nothing to show for it. Why?

1. Prohibition is a terrible way to keep someone from using mind and body altering substances irresponsibly. Personal Responsibility needs a chance to develop. If you never let a person find out for themselves and always try and take care of them "for their own good...", then they will never develop that ability to take responsibility for their actions. Prohibition leads to the "blaming" of the thing banned and tries to relieve the responsibility of the individual.

2. Prohibition didn't work for alcohol...it only led to the establishment of organized crime in America before it was re-legalized. How many people die in gunfights over alcohol these days? How is alcohol abuse handled?

3. Current Drug policies lead children to believe that the government is hyppocritical and lies. Their own eyes tell them this. The truth is what they need. The truth will allow them to make intelligent decisions and act responsibly.

4. Although the Netherlands marijuana policies have led to increased use, it is mostly from other Europeans who come there to enjoy the freedom they cannot find at home. England completely decriminalized marijuana ten years ago and has seen a dramatic drop in use in the interim. If given the opportunity, intelligent people will make intelligent choices. See Bo's marijuana policy.

Many things once percieved as dangerous, have now been tamed and made to serve humanity. Deadly electrical current coursing through all the walls in the place you live.....multi ton pieces of steel and plastic hurtling along at high rates of speed twelve inches from you.on vast expanses of concrete....throwing many tons of steel and plastic containing living human beings through the air at almost supersonic speeds for thousands of miles.......all made perfectly acceptable and commonplace by intelligent people acting intelligently.
